April 6, 2024. Astana. At the working residence of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, a meeting was held between Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to the Republic of Kazakhstan A.N. Borodavkin.

The meeting was attended by the dean of the parishes of the capital, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev).

After exchanging greetings, Alexey Nikolaevich congratulated Metropolitan Alexander on being awarded the title of Honorary Doctor (Honoris causa) of the Russian State Social University and Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev) on being awarded the Order of Friendship.

The archpastor told the guest about the upcoming celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Alma-Ata diocese in May of this year, the central event of which will be the arrival in the southern capital of Kazakhstan of the famous Orthodox shrine - the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Healer”.

The Metropolitan informed the Ambassador of the Russian Federation about the participation of the choir of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District in the opening of the III International Festival “Light of Christ” in the city of Tver and the VII International Lenten Choir Festival in Moscow.

The parties discussed issues of Russian-Kazakh cooperation in the field of politics, economics, education, science, culture and art; An exchange of views took place regarding the interaction of the two countries within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.
