Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen took part in an international interreligious online conference

On May 22, 2024, an international conference “The Role of Religious Leaders in Achieving Sustainable Peace” was held online at the N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue.

The event was attended by: Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan E. Nukezhanov, acting chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center D. Yesenova, Head of the Department of International Relations and Protocol of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan M. Bektazinov, expert in the Military-Political Dimension of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia D. Kuanyshev, leaders and representatives of traditional religions, international and government organizations, expert communities from Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey, Great Britain, Israel, India, Pakistan and other countries. Among them are representatives of the Orthodox, Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu and other communities.

With the blessing of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Administrator of the Kazakh Metropolitan District, took part in the conference.

Participants in the forum, which took place as part of the implementation of the tasks of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and the Concept adopted by it, discussed the state of interreligious relations in the world and exchanged views on the ministry of religious leaders in modern conditions.

Following the results of the international online conference, experts outlined the importance of international initiatives of countries in the development of global dialogue between world and traditional religions, and also reached an agreement on further fruitful cooperation on strengthening interreligious dialogue.
