Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen took part in the celebration of the 225th anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin

June 6, 2024. Alma-Ata. A culturally and historically significant date - 225 years since the birth of the great poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin - was celebrated in the southern capital of Kazakhstan. According to established tradition, on the birthday of the literary genius, admirers of his work gathered at the monument to the poet near the building of the Academy of Sciences.
Among those gathered were representatives of the creative and scientific intelligentsia, students and employees of the Russian Consulate General.
The event was attended by Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Administrator of the Kazakh Metropolitan District. The archpastor spoke about Pushkin as a poet of the Orthodox people and read an excerpt from the poem “The Bronze Horseman.”
The poet’s poems were read at the monument, romances and songs were performed; student youth acted out skits based on his works.
