The defense of final qualifying works took place at the Alma-Ata Theological Seminary

June 18, 2024. Alma-Ata. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Alma-Ata Theological Seminary hosted the defense of final qualification works of 4th year students of full-time and correspondence departments.

The graduation certification commission was headed by acting rector of the Alma-Ata Theological Seminary, Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov.

The working group included: candidate of theology Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, manager of the affairs of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District; Vice-Rector for Educational Work, Priest John Livinsky, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Priest Pyotr Bakhtiyarov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences A.P. Soloviev, head of the biblical and theological department, candidate of theology priest Oleg Lisin, head of the church history department archpriest Alexander Gaichenya, head of the church practical department, candidate of theology reader V.P. Pashkov, head of the Metropolitan District department for public relations, cleric of the Ascension Cathedral, research fellow of the APDS Archpriest Alexander Suvorov; Secretary of the Church History Department, Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District Priest Georgy Sidorov, Secretary of the Church Practical Department Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky), Head of the Correspondence Department Priest Daniil Bobylev, Head of the Office of the Theological School Priest Alexander Shishlov, Candidate of Historical Sciences (PHD) V.S. Oskolkov, seminary teachers.

Those gathered prayed before the start of the good deed, after which Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov greeted the teaching corporation and students and conveyed to those present the blessing of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.

At the end of the students’ presentations, a meeting of the certification commission took place and the results of the defense were announced. The teachers noted the good quality of the presented theses and their relevance at the present stage of church formation.

On behalf of the meeting, the acting rector of the Alma-Ata Seminary, Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov, thanked the teaching corporation for their efforts, also congratulated the graduates and their scientific supervisors on their successful defense.
