On the eve of the Feast of the Holy Trinity, the Head of the Metropolitan District held an all-night vigil in the Ascension Cathedral of Almaty

On June 22, 2024, on the eve of the feast of the Life-Giving Trinity - the day of Holy Pentecost, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated an all-night vigil in the Ascension Cathedral in Almaty.

The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was concelebrated by: the confessor of the Alma-Ata diocese, Archimandrite John (Sazonov), the clergyman of the Ascension Cathedral of Alma-Ata, the head of the District's public relations department, Archpriest Alexander Suvorov and the cathedral clergy.

The chants were performed by the choir of the Metropolitan District (regent - Honored Artist of Russia O.N. Ovchinnikov, choirmaster - V. Dudareva) and the choir of the Ascension Cathedral (regent - N. Zubrevich).

According to ancient tradition, the temple was decorated with tree branches; the clergy and believers during the all-night vigil also held green branches and flowers in their hands.

The consecration of bread, wine, wheat and oil was performed.

For the first time since Holy Saturday, the clergy, choir and believers sang a prayer to the Holy Spirit - “Heavenly King”.

At Matins, after the reading of the Gospel conception, the prayer “To the Heavenly King” was solemnly sung for the second time by the clergy and people, after which Metropolitan Alexander addressed those gathered with an archpastoral sermon.

During the singing of the canon, the believers were anointed with consecrated oil.

For the third time during the all-night vigil, the prayer “To the Heavenly King” was publicly sung before the singing of the Great Doxology.

On June 23, on the very day of the holiday, Bishop Metropolitan will celebrate the late Divine Liturgy and Great Vespers of the Feast of Pentecost with the reading of kneeling prayers in the Ascension Cathedral of the southern capital.
