Bishop Gennady took part in the meeting of the Inter-Council Presence Commission on Public Life, Culture, Science and Information

On July 3, 2024, a meeting of the Inter-Council Presence Commission on Public Life, Culture, Science and Information was held in person and remotely.

The meeting was attended by Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Administrator of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.

The meeting of the Commission was opened by the Chairman of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk, who presented the agenda of the event and the main speakers. In his speech, he spoke about the events that have taken place within the framework of the commission's activities since its last meeting. Among them, he especially highlighted the joint meeting of the Commission on Theology and Theological Education and the Commission on Public Life, Culture, Science and Information, a round table on the issues of artificial intelligence and bioethics, and a scientific and educational meeting with students of the Kaluga Theological Seminary dedicated to the development of artificial intelligence. Metropolitan Clement emphasized the informational and substantive richness of the meetings.

Then the head of the Publishing Council moved on to the main topics of the meeting, which were the approval of the composition of the working groups on new topics of the commission's work and the discussion of plans for activities within the framework of the new topics.

He presented to those gathered the topics for the further work of the commission, approved by the decision of the Holy Synod of May 30, 2024:

1. Artificial intelligence and other challenges of scientific and technological development to the Christian worldview.
2. Unity of the peoples of historical Rus' in the face of modern challenges.
3. Spiritual and cultural identity in the context of globalization.
4. Christian ethics and social justice.
5. Church and cinema: prospects for cooperation in the field of protecting traditional values.
6. Family crisis and saving the people.

Metropolitan Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk gave comments on each topic.

Bishop Gennady was instructed to lead the activities of the working group in the direction of "Christian ethics and social justice".

The participants then moved on to reviewing the lists of members of each group, as well as proposals for the appointment of leaders and secretaries.

Then there was a discussion of work plans and tasks for each area for the coming months. Dates were set for a number of meetings within the framework of the working groups.
