The publishing house of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District has published the calendar of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan for 2025 - an official calendar and liturgical, as well as reference publication, traditionally combining the calendar by which Orthodox parishes in Kazakhstan will live and pray in the coming year, and reference sections.
The coming year is marked for the Russian Orthodox Church and the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District by a number of memorable dates and anniversaries, to which the calendar is dedicated. In 2025, Orthodox believers will prayerfully celebrate 1575 years since the death of St. Pimen the Great, 350 years since the appearance of the Pochaev Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, 100 years since the death of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus'.
In the coming year, celebrations will be held dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the canonical status of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District - the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan; the 225th anniversary of the birth of the first hierarch of the land of Kazakhstan, Archbishop Sophonia (Sokolsky); the 70th anniversary of the death and 25th anniversary of the discovery of the relics of the holy confessor Nicholas, Metropolitan of Alma-Ata and Kazakhstan; the 50th anniversary of the death of the confessor of faith and ascetic of piety, Metropolitan of Alma-Ata and Kazakhstan Joseph (Chernov).
In accordance with the tradition of the Russian Orthodox Church, the calendar for each day of the year provides a list of the names of saints, events in church history, venerated images of the Holy Mother of God, the memory and celebration of which are performed by the Church on this day, indications are given of fragments of the Holy Scripture read during the service, and in special cases - instructions on fasting and brief liturgical and statutory notes. The days of remembrance of the new martyrs and confessors of Kazakhstan and the icons of the Mother of God venerated in the District are especially highlighted.
The reference section contains information about the archpastors and dioceses of the Metropolitan District of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan with detailed contact information and photographs of the episcopate; information about the higher theological educational institution of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan - the Alma-Ata Orthodox Theological Seminary.
The publication, which opens with a portrait of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus', is well illustrated. High-quality photographs highlight the events of church life in Kazakhstan and the service of the Head of the Metropolitan District in 2023-2024. Among the most significant events are the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the glorification of the holy martyrs Seraphim and Theognost; the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the all-Church glorification of the Council of New Martyrs and Confessors of Kazakhstan; the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Alma-Ata Diocese; the bringing to Kazakhstan of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "Healer"; the consecration of Archimandrite Vianor (Ivanov) as Bishop of Uralsk and Atyrau;
The first page of the calendar cover depicts the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Atyrau.
The third page of the cover is decorated with a photo of the tomb with the relics of the holy confessor Nicholas, Metropolitan of Alma-Ata and Kazakhstan from the Nikolsky Cathedral of the city of Alma-Ata.
