April 26, 2025. The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, arrived in Karaganda for the celebration in honor of the uncovering of the relics of St. Sebastian of Karaganda (the celebration was postponed from April 19).
The hierarch was met by the administrator of the Karaganda diocese, Archbishop Sebastian of Karaganda and Shakhty, the secretary of the Karaganda diocese, Archpriest Dimitry Patrikeyev and the head of the public relations department of the Karaganda diocese, Hieromonk Moses (Patrikeyev).
The Metropolitan is accompanied by: vicars of the Astana diocese - Bishop Claudian of Taldykorgan and Bishop Veniamin of Talgar; Rector of the Almaty Church in Honor of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" Archpriest Yevgeny Vorobyov; Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District Priest Georgy Sidorov; Head of the Metropolitan's Protocol Service Protodeacon Roman Golovin; Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky; Protodeacon Alexander Mokiy; Deacon John Churkin and Deacon Rustik Yakubov.
The honorary guest of the holiday was Bishop Nikolay of Salavat and Kumertau (Bashkortostan Metropolitanate).
The archpastors of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan gathered for the festivities in the "Mining Capital" of the country.
In the Vvedensky Cathedral, at the tomb with the relics of the venerable elder, Metropolitan Alexander, together with the hierarchs and clergy, performed the Easter glorification and sang the magnification of the saint.
In the evening, an all-night vigil was held in the cathedral.
