“For every Muslim, this special period of the year - a thirty-day fast - according to ancient custom, is marked by performing acts of mercy, special concern for others and compassion for those in need. Compliance with the religious instructions of Ramadan is directly related to the ideas of moral improvement of the individual and strengthening of traditional spiritual and moral values. The head of state, the respected Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev, emphasizes: “Spiritual values are an important factor in the development of the country.”
This year, Ramadan coincides with the period of Orthodox Lent; followers of the country's two leading faiths will at the same time testify to their loyalty to spiritual ideals.
