On April 9, 2024, at the Ural Diocesan Administration, Bishop of Ural and Atyrau Vianor held a working meeting on providing assistance to victims of spring floods.
The meeting was attended by rectors of Uralsk churches and employees of the diocese.
During the meeting, the archpastor noted that Kazakhstan was faced with a major natural disaster, as a result of which thousands of houses were flooded and dozens of settlements were cut off from the outside world. In these difficult days, according to the Bishop, it is necessary to provide comprehensive assistance to the residents of Uralsk, as well as other cities and towns of the West Kazakhstan region, which are at the epicenter of a large-scale tragedy.
Bishop Vianor instructed to organize at each parish of the Ural diocese a collection of food, clothes, and personal hygiene items, which will then be distributed to temporary accommodation centers for victims with the help of volunteers. The meeting participants emphasized the need to provide spiritual and material support to all Kazakhstanis, regardless of their nationality, religion and social status.
With the blessing of His Eminence, during the Divine Liturgy in the churches of the diocese, prayers are offered for the end of the water invasion.
