A concert of the musical project “Theology in Sounds” (+VIDEO) took place in Almaty

June 16, 2024. Alma-Ata. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the second concert of the musical project “Theology in Sounds” took place in the Ascension Cathedral.
Initiators and organizers of the educational project: cleric of the Ascension Cathedral in Almaty, Abbot Philip (Moiseev); artistic director – Natalya Golovina.
The event was held with the support of the cultural department of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.
The chants were performed by a mixed choir under the direction of Abbot Philip (Moiseev).
The leader of the project is the head of the Orthodox singing school “Tsevnitsa” at the main temple of the southern capital N. Golovina.
As part of the educational event, the general public gets acquainted with little-known church musical works of the Russian Orthodox Church. This time the repertoire covered partes polyphonic works from early baroque to classicism of the 16th-18th centuries. The concert was preceded by a short introductory lecture.
The guests of the musical festival were: the head of the Metropolitan District's public relations department, the keymaster of the Ascension Cathedral, Archpriest Alexander Suvorov; Head of the Metropolitan Protocol Service, Protodeacon Roman Golovin; cleric of the St. Nicholas Cathedral of the southern capital, Priest Oleg Nasymov, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, head of the cultural department of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District L.E. Goricheva; parishioners of churches and students of Sunday schools of the southern capital, students of the Alma-Ata Theological Seminary, representatives of the creative intelligentsia.
The attention of the listeners was offered: “The God of a Hundred in the Host of Gods” by M.S. Berezovsky, “Thy Good Spirit” by S. Pekalitsky, “In the Black Sea” by V. Titov, “The Cherubic Song” by V. Manfrendini, “I will burp my heart” from Psalm 44 by G. Sarti, “O my God, come to me” by S. Degtyareva and others.
The next concert in the series is planned for the coming months.
