On the feast of the Baptism of Rus, Archbishop Vladimir of Petropavlovsk and Bulaev prayerfully celebrated the day of his heavenly patron

On July 28, 2024, on the day of remembrance of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir and the feast of the Baptism of Rus, Archbishop Vladimir of Petropavlovsk and Bulaev celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Ascension Cathedral of Petropavlovsk.

The administrator of the Petropavlovsk-Bulaevsk diocese received the name in honor of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, the Baptizer of Rus, in monastic tonsure. On this day, Archbishop Vladimir celebrates his name day.

His Eminence was co-served by: Secretary of the Diocesan Administration Archpriest Sergiy Pervushin, Rector of the St. Methodius Church in Petropavlovsk Priest Mikhail Berezina, Key Keeper of the Church of All Saints in the Northern Capital Priest Antony Shuvakin, Head of the Diocesan Department for Prison Ministry Hieromonk Seraphim (Maksimov), clergy of the diocese who arrived to congratulate the Bishop on his name day; Deacon Vladimir Bartol, Deacon Alexei Alexandrovich.

The liturgical hymns were performed by the bishop's choir under the direction of choirmaster A.A. Zatai.

After the reading of the Gospel, petitions for the unity of the Church of Christ were offered at the litany of fervent supplication, and the prayer "On the gift of pastors for the Diocese of Petropavlovsk" was read.

At the end of the Liturgy, a prayer service was held to the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir before the icon of the Baptizer of Rus', after which many years were proclaimed to the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', the Head of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Archpastor of the Petropavlovsk and Bulaev Diocese, His Eminence Archbishop Vladimir, the flock of the diocese, the Fatherland of Kazakhstan, the President, the authorities, the people of Kazakhstan and all Orthodox Christians.

At the end of the prayer service, the Archpastor congratulated everyone on the feast of the Baptism of Rus' and the day of remembrance of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, and addressed the worshipers. The clergy and parishioners responded by congratulating Archbishop Vladimir on his name day and the tenth anniversary of his episcopal service.

Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan cordially congratulated Bishop Vladimir on the feast of the Baptism of Rus and the day of remembrance of the heavenly patron in a telephone conversation, wishing him health, strength and much mercy from God.

On this day, with the blessing of Archbishop Vladimir, the children's and youth festival "Protector of the Holy Faith" dedicated to the Day of the Baptism of Rus was held in the spiritual and administrative center at the Ascension Cathedral. A concert program, children's competitions and a festive meal were organized for those gathered.

As part of the event, the results of the children's creativity competition "Silver Lyre" were summed up. The winners of the creative competition were awarded with commemorative diplomas and gifts.

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', on the day of the Baptism of Rus, at noon, at 12 o'clock local time, in the Ascension Cathedral of Petropavlovsk, as in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church, the bells rang out "Glory to Thee, God!" for 10 minutes.
