On the day of remembrance of the seven youths of Ephesus, Metropolitan Alexander celebrated the Liturgy in the Assumption Church of the Kemel microdistrict

August 17, 2024 is the day of remembrance of the seven youths of Ephesus: Maximilian, Lamblichus, Martinian, John, Dionysius, Exacustodian and Antoninus.

Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Assumption Church of the Kemel microdistrict (former Pervomaysky settlement) of the city of Almaty.

The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was assisted by: the dean of the churches of the southern capital, the rector of the St. Nicholas Cathedral, Archpriest Valery Zakharov; the dean of the Ili church district, the rector of the Assumption parish, Archpriest Alexander Zyryanov; Archpriest Alexander Gaichenya, key keeper of the Nativity of Christ Cathedral; Archpriest Vadim Alekseev, rector of the Church of St. John of Kronstadt in the village of Zhetygen, Almaty Region; Archpriest Alexander Ageev, rector of the Seraphim Church in the village of Chapaevo; Archpriest Vyacheslav Pugachev, head of the Metropolitan District Commission for Charity and Social Service; Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky), head of the Metropolitan's personal secretariat; Priest Vladimir Shishlov, rector of the St. Demetrius Church in the village of Baiserke; Priest Kirill Freigang, rector of the St. Nicholas Church in the city of Talgar; Priest Ioann Konoplev, key keeper of the Adriano-Natalievsky Church; Protodeacon Roman Golovin, head of the Metropolitan's protocol service; Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky, Hierodeacon Zinon (Marov).

For the prayerful consolation of the faithful, an exact copy, “measure for measure,” of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Healer” was brought to the church for the service.

The male choir of the Alma-Ata diocese under the direction of Deacon Alexander Pivnya and the choir of the Assumption Church sang.

The sermon on the communion verse was delivered by Priest Kirill Freygang.

After the dismissal of the Liturgy, the glorification of the Queen of Heaven took place before the icon of the Mother of God “Healer”, after which Metropolitan Alexander sprinkled the worshipers with holy water, congratulated the clergy and the faithful on the day of remembrance of the seven youths of Ephesus and delivered a sermon.
