Congratulations from the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan on Constitution Day

August 30, 2024 – Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, congratulates the citizens of the country on the holiday:

Dear people of Kazakhstan!

I congratulate you on the national holiday – Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan!

On this day in 1995, the Basic Law of our country was adopted at a nationwide referendum, which became a key event in the history of independent Kazakhstan, laying the foundation for building a state based on the rule of law.

As a guarantor of democracy, a guarantee of stability, independence and integrity of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Constitution recognized a person, his rights and freedoms as the highest value, laid a solid foundation for ensuring peace and harmony in our society. Thanks to the norms of the Basic Law, large-scale reforms were carried out in Kazakhstan, ensuring economic growth and strengthening political stability, increasing the authority of the Republic on the world stage. Today, state, religious and public organizations, having joined forces, are working to create a worthy present and future for the Fatherland.

Orthodox Christianity, along with Islam of the Hanafi madhhab, is a significant part of the spiritual foundation of Kazakhstani society. The two leading confessions of our country, whose historical role is noted in the Constitution, have been the spiritual pillars of Kazakhstan from ancient times to the present day. Support for state initiatives aimed at preserving brotherly love and good neighborliness between representatives of different nationalities and religions in the Republic has always been and remains the firm official position of the Orthodox Church.

On this festive Day, I wish all Kazakhstanis good health and success in good deeds and endeavors!

The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan sent congratulations on Constitution Day to the President of the country K.-Zh.K. Tokayev, state leadership, parliamentarians, akims of regions and cities.
