November 1, 2024. Ust-Kamenogorsk. As part of the celebration of the Republic Day, on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan K.-Zh.K. Tokayev, the Akim of the East Kazakhstan region E.B. Kosherbayev presented state awards to prominent residents of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk who made a significant contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between people, the socio-economic and cultural development of the country.

The solemn ceremony took place in the building of the Akimat of the East Kazakhstan region.

Representatives of public organizations and religious associations, scientists, teachers, representatives of the creative intelligentsia and the general public were invited to the festive event.

During the ceremony, state, public and religious figures were awarded. Among those awarded was Archbishop Amfilohiy of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk. For his long-term contribution to strengthening and preserving interethnic peace and interfaith harmony, the hierarch was awarded the Order of Kurmet (Order of Honor).

The decree on awarding the head of the Ust-Kamenogorsk diocese with a high state award was signed by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.-Zh.K. Tokayev on October 16, 2024.

As a thoughtful gesture, Ermek Bedelbaevich noted the important role of Archbishop Amfilohiy in promoting interfaith dialogue, maintaining peace and stability in society in East Kazakhstan. His Eminence in his response expressed gratitude to the head of state and thanked the head of the region for his high appreciation of the work of the Orthodox Church in the land of Rudny Altai.

The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, congratulated Bishop Amfilohije on receiving the order in a telephone conversation and wished him good health and God's mercy.

In accordance with the statute, the Order of Kurmet is awarded for merits in the development of the economy, social sphere, science and culture, education, for exemplary service in government bodies and active public activities.
