A meeting was held in Almaty between Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and State Counselor of the Republic of Kazakhstan E. T. Karin

February 17, 2025. Almaty. In the administrative and spiritual-cultural center of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan named after Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov), a meeting was held between Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and State Counselor of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Tynymbayevich Karin.

After exchanging greetings, Metropolitan Alexander told E. T. Karin about the life of the Metropolitan District, which is celebrating the 15th anniversary of its establishment this year.

The Bishop emphasized that one of the priority areas of activity of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan has been and remains the strengthening of interaction and cooperation between church institutions, government agencies, traditional confessions and public associations for the sake of peace and well-being of the multinational people of the country.

Erlan Tynymbayevich noted that the state continues to carry out systematic work to create the necessary conditions for strengthening interreligious dialogue. The State Advisor spoke about the implementation of the initiatives of President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev to strengthen interethnic and interfaith harmony, and cultivate national values.

One of the main topics of the meeting was the discussion of preparations for the Primate's visit to Kazakhstan of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', who will arrive in Astana to participate in the VIII Congress of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held on September 17-18 this year.

Metropolitan Alexander invited Erlan Tynymbayevich to visit the Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center named after Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius at the Assumption Cathedral in Astana and the Church and History Museum of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan. The State Advisor accepted the invitation with gratitude.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged wishes for success in their work for the benefit of Kazakhstan.

In memory of the meeting, Metropolitan Alexander presented the State Counselor with his scientific work - the book "History of Christianity in Central Asia" and the calendar of the Metropolitan District for 2025.
