In accordance with ancient traditions, Nauryz is celebrated in Kazakhstan on March 21-23. Since 2001, it has received the status of a national holiday. The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, congratulated Kazakhstanis on Nauryz:
The Nauryz holiday is a celebration of spring renewal and fertility, unity and friendship, and occupies a special place in the lives of Kazakhstanis.
For many centuries, people of different nationalities living in the vastness of the Great Steppe have measured their achievements with this day, made plans for the future. The Nauryz holiday encourages our people to kindness and mercy, therefore it will always be a symbol of peace, friendship and solidarity of the citizens of our country.
Today Nauryz plays an important unifying role in the life of our society and is equally dear to all Kazakhstanis.
On this solemn holiday, I wish you all health, well-being, success in your work, peace and prosperity to our common home - blessed Kazakhstan.
The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan sent congratulations on Nauryz to the President of Kazakhstan K.-Zh.K. Tokayev, the country's leadership, parliamentarians, akims of regions and cities.
