Among the guests of honor in the hall were veterans and home front workers of the Great Patriotic War.

“Victory in the Great Patriotic War was achieved at the cost of incredible sacrifices, heroic efforts and enormous work. This glorious and long-awaited day came thanks to the heroism of military leaders and soldiers, the exploits of doctors and nurses, who saved the wounded on the battlefield under bullets and shells and treated them in hospitals, the selfless work of workers - those who worked around the clock in factories and factories, who cultivated the scorched war the land to grow our daily bread. In times of severe trials, examples of the highest self-sacrifice, heroism and selfless devotion to their native land were revealed. In difficult times, many people turned to the fatherly faith - Holy Orthodoxy, drew strength and courage from its treasury and actually fulfilled the covenant of Christ: “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13) . Our soldiers were united by a high goal - they defended not only their families and homes, they saved the whole world from the mortal threat of Nazi ideology hanging over it. The Russian Orthodox Church, through the mouth of its Primate, His Holiness Patriarch Sergius (Stragorodsky), archpastors and clergy, in the very first days of the war blessed all Orthodox Christians to stand up for the defense of the earthly Fatherland. One of our people’s responses to tragic feelings and experiences, a manifestation of patriotic uplift and spiritual awakening, was the creation of vivid musical works that appeared from the first days of the war. These amazing, unique lyrical war songs, filled with bright sorrow, deep spiritualized faith in victory and hope for the future, are included in the golden fund of world musical art. The greatness of the Motherland and love for it, the exploits of patriots, the friendship of peoples, hatred of fascism, the joy of victories - everything that worried people was figuratively reflected in the military song.” From the words of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan about the musical creativity of the war era.
