July 9, 2024. Astana. A meeting between Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and Archbishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kazakhstan Yuri Novgorodov took place at the working residence of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was attended by the dean of the capital's parishes, Archimandrite Sergiy (Karamyshev).

The head of the Metropolitan District told the guest about the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Alma-Ata Diocese, the central event of which was the bringing of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "Healer" to Alma-Ata. The archpastor noted that over 30 thousand people managed to venerate the shrine during the short time of their stay.

During the conversation, Metropolitan Alexander shared with his interlocutor information about a number of events in the city of Astana, which will take place on September 28-29 of this year as part of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the capital's diocese, and the celebration of the 170th anniversary of the founding of the oldest church in the Kazakh capital - the Constantine and Helen Cathedral.

Archbishop Yuri Novgorodov informed the Head of the Metropolitan District about preparations for the XXVIII Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kazakhstan, which will take place on August 9 in the Lutheran Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Astana.

The interlocutors noted that the good relations between the Churches and religious communities that have developed in the Republic contribute to solving common problems in preserving interfaith peace and interethnic harmony in the country, which is an important guarantee of the further development of Kazakhstan.
