On the day of remembrance of the holy martyr Cyprian and the martyr Justina, Metropolitan Alexander celebrated the Liturgy in the Matroninsky Church of the Southern capital

October 15, 2024 is the day of remembrance of the holy martyr Cyprian, the martyr Justina and the martyr Theoktistos; blessed Andrew, the fool for Christ's sake, of Constantinople; the righteous warrior Theodore Ushakov and the blessed princess Anna of Kashin.

Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Matroninsky Church of the Iveron-Seraphim Convent in the city of Almaty - the house church of the Almaty Theological Seminary.

His Eminence was assisted by: the rector of the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in the city of Almaty, Archpriest Yevgeny Vorobyov, acting rector of the Alma-Ata Theological Seminary, Head of the Information Department of the Metropolitan District Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov; Vice-Rector for Educational Work Priest John Livinsky, Head of the Metropolitan's Personal Secretariat Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky), Hierodeacon Afanasy (Kozel), Deacon Roman Karaman.

The following prayed at the Liturgy: Abbess of the Iveron-Seraphim Convent of Alma-Ata Abbess Lyubov (Yakushkina) with the sisters of the convent; Secretary of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, member of the Patriarchal Council for the Development of Church Singing, Honored Artist of Russia O.N. Ovchinnikov; employees of the Alma-Ata Diocesan Administration, students of the seminary and parishioners of the convent.

For the prayerful worship of the faithful, an icon with a particle of the relics of the holy martyr Cyprian and the martyr Justina was brought to the church.

The choir of the monastery's St. Sophia Cathedral sang under the direction of O. Usoltseva.

At the end of the Liturgy, the saints were glorified, after which Metropolitan Alexander addressed the participants of the service with words of edification.

His Eminence warmly congratulated the acting rector of the Alma-Ata Orthodox Theological Seminary, Archpriest Yevgeny Ivanov, on his birthday, presented him with a holy prosphora and a pectoral cross, wishing the pastor health and God's help in serving the Church of Christ.
