Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Annunciation Cathedral in Pavlodar.
The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was co-served by: Archbishop of Pavlodar and Ekibastuz Varnava, Bishop of Aktobe and Kyzylorda Ignatius; rector of the temple in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in the city of Alma-Ata, archpriest Yevgeny Vorobyov, dean of the Ekibastuz deanery district, archpriest Igor Popov, dean of the Pavlodar Christ and Nativity Church, archpriest Konstantin Kutasevich, secretary of the Pavlodar diocese and dean of the Pavlodar church district, archpriest Alexy Stepanov Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky), Head of the Metropolitan's Personal Secretariat, Priest Artemy Zhdanov, Head of the Diocesan Department of Religious Education and Catechism; Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky, Deacon Alexander Mokiy.
Prayers during the service were: the abbess of the Peter and Paul Convent in Pavlodar, nun Seraphim (Bolibok) with the sisters of the convent, employees of the diocesan administration, students of Sunday schools of the diocese.
A prayer was made for the restoration of peace, which is held in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'.
A sermon on the sacramental verse was delivered by Archpriest Igor Popov.
At the end of the service, Metropolitan Alexander congratulated Archbishop Varnava on the upcoming anniversary of his hierarchal consecration. The head of the Metropolitan District presented the image of the Queen of Heaven the “Abalatskaya” Sign as a prayer memory gift.
In response, the Administrator of the Pavlodar diocese thanked the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan for congratulations and asked all the participants in the service for solemn prayers for God's help in his further service to the Church of Christ on the land of the Irtysh region.
Metropolitan Alexander sincerely thanked the archpastors, clergy and parishioners for the joy of common prayer, congratulated the communicants on receiving the Holy Mysteries of Christ and delivered a sermon.
