Bishop of Ural and Atyrau Vianor expressed condolences to those injured in a gas explosion in the city of Uralsk

January 4, 2024. City of Uralsk. Bishop of Ural and Atyrau Vianor, on his own behalf and on behalf of the clergy of the diocese, expresses condolences to the families of those tragically killed in the explosion in the city of Uralsk and the families of those injured.

Bishop Vianor, together with the clergy, offer prayers in the pre-Christmas days for the healing of the sick, for the consolation of the grieving, for the repose of the tragically departed and for the health of the employees of the Department of Emergency Situations of the West Kazakhstan region fulfilling their official duty.


On January 4, a gas explosion occurred in a cafe in the city of Uralsk, causing the building to collapse and start a fire. Six people were rescued from under the collapsed structures, five of them were taken to the hospital. Three people died.
