Metropolitan Christmas trees were held in Almaty (+ VIDEO)

January 13-14, 2024. Almaty. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, five Metropolitan Christmas trees were held at the State Academic Korean Theater, where young pupils of Sunday schools in the southern capital took part.

Children from large and low-income families also became spectators.

The organizer of the event is the Central Sunday School at St. Nicholas Cathedral of Alma-Ata (director - G.V. Cherepanova).

Before the start of the performances, the children, their parents and Sunday school teachers were congratulated on the Nativity of Christ by the vicars of the Astana diocese: the manager of the affairs of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Bishop Claudian of Taldykorgan and Bishop Veniamin of Talgar.

Pupils of the Central Sunday School presented a musical performance based on the fairy tale by H.Ch. Andersen's "Wild Swans", which involved 29 students aged 5 to 18 years and students of the Alma-Ata Theological Seminary.

After the performance, dancing, round dances and competitions with the participation of fairy-tale characters took place in the theater foyer near the Christmas tree.

At the end of the holiday, all young participants received gifts.

More than 2,000 children attended the performances this year.
