Metropolitan Alexander headed a working meeting on the development of the farmsteads of the Iversko-Seraphim Monastery in Almaty

January 29, 2024. Alma-Ata. In the administrative and spiritual-cultural center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District named after Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov), Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan held a working meeting.

The participants of the meeting were: Abbess Lyubov (Yakushkina), abbess of the Iversko-Seraphim Monastery; Secretary of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, Honored Artist of Russia O.N. Ovchinnikov; Assistant to the Head of the Metropolitan District, Priest Georgy Sidorov; dean of the monastery, nun Ambrosia (Dorofeeva); specialists responsible for the construction of monastery facilities.

The meeting was devoted to the development of the farmsteads of the Iversko-Seraphim convent of the Southern capital - in the village of Karabulak (Klyuchi) and in the village of Kosmos, Alma-Ata region. In Karabulak, at the Church of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers, a pilgrimage center is currently under construction, which will be able to accommodate more than 100 people who want to visit the shrines of Alma-Ata and the Alma-Ata region. In Klyuchi, at the temple in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Life-Giving Spring,” it is planned to create well-equipped fonts for immersing the ancient healing spring in the water and a house for receiving pilgrims.

Metropolitan Alexander heard reports from Mother Abbess and specialists on the work performed. The meeting participants discussed issues of modernizing the existing infrastructure and improving access roads. The interlocutors discussed the concept and features of landscape design.

Another topic of the meeting was the beautification of the interiors of the chapel on the territory of the Iversko-Seraphim Monastery above the burial place of the Apostle of Central Asia, the first archpastor of the Turkestan diocese, Archbishop Zephaniah (Sokolsky).

At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Metropolitan District gave a positive assessment of the work done and wished everyone who takes part in the creation of the monastery’s pilgrimage centers God’s help in their work for the good of the Holy Church.
