Patronal feast day of the main church of the Chimkent diocese

On December 19, 2023, on the day of remembrance of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, celebrations dedicated to the patronal feast were held in the St. Nicholas Cathedral in the city of Chimkent.

The festive Liturgy was led by Bishop Chrysanthus of Chimkent and Turkestan.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were: the dean of the South Kazakhstan church district, Hieromonk Anthony (Soloviev), the rector of the Archangel Michael Church in the city of Chimkent, Archpriest Andrey Lebedev, the rector of the church in the name of St. Macarius of the Egyptian city of Lenger, Turkestan region, Archpriest Boris Markov, the head of the press service of the Chimkent diocese, Archpriest Alexander Mogilevsky, the clergy of the St. Nicholas Cathedral and churches of the Chimkent diocese.

The choir of St. Nicholas Cathedral sang under the direction of E.V. Aleshina.

Following the prayer behind the pulpit, glorification was performed in front of the icon of St. Nicholas.

At the end of the service, a procession of the cross took place around the cathedral, after which Bishop Chrysanthos congratulated the parishioners on their patronal feast day and delivered a word of teaching.

The night before, His Eminence celebrated an all-night vigil in the main church of the Chimkent diocese with the reading of an akathist to the Myra hierarch.
